Grading Procedures
Troy’s standards-based report card uses four different numbers on a scale to indicate a child’s progress toward meeting the end-of the year standards. The table below offers a detailed explanation of what each number represents on the standards achievement key. Not all standards are instructed each trimester. It is common for students to be progressing towards a standard throughout the school year, as the expectation is for students to achieve the standard for their particular grade level by the third trimester. Each number descriptor on the standards key addresses a child’s ability to independently and consistently demonstrate mastery of the particular skill or standard listed on the report card. Each trimester, parents and students receive information on how their child is progressing towards mastering the grade level standard.
1 No Progress: The student shows no progress towards achieving grade level standards with ongoing assistance
2 Limited Progress: The student is progressing towards achieving grade level standards with on-going assistance
3 Progressing The student is progressing towards achieving grade level standards with minimal to no assistance
4 Achieved The student consistently demonstrates grade level standards independently
